In 20+ years of timeshare ownership. I have NEVER known of ANY of these upfront fee parasites to ever sell a timeshare. NEVER. Not once. Not ever. I doubt that a rental track record is much different.

If your mil wants rent out her timeshare, she can do it herself by advertising for just a few dollars on RedWeek, VacationTimeshare Rentals, MyResortNetwork, etc., spending well under $100 total. If she still insistes on spending $800 to pay someone to probably NOT successfully do what she CAN EASILY do herself for a fraction of the cost, well --- LET her throw her money away and learn the lesson for herself.

With all the thousands of free (or very low fee) rental markets out there and on the internet why would she even think of paying someone $800 to rent her timeshare for her? These outfits are in the same category as upfront fee resale companies. Please warn your mother that she'll be throwing her money away.

On another note, and even if the company was legitimate, I would never pay anyone a whopping $800 to rent my timeshare for me .... that's highway robbery, period.

This is just another example of all the scams out there involving timeshares.

We were also contacted by this company to rent our timeshare week to business people for a one-time fee of $675.00 for as long as we owned our timeshare. In addition, they would sell another timeshare for an additional $110.00. We were told that we could get $2800-$3200 for our rental week. Has anyone else recently received calls like this? GGP

Yeah and they probably told you if you spent the extra $110 to list your timeshare for sale with their company, they could get mega bucks for it ... it's all hogwash ..... don't bite.

Yes,as a matter of fact! We were told that we could get $18,000-22,000 for our time share. We've seen units like ours for the same week posted for no more than $12,000 on several listings including RedWeek. They claim to guarantee the sale of your time share &/or rental week at no additional cost, but what's the incentive once they have your money? Thanks for the warning.

Hi have seen all the above posts, we signed up to have our property rented through GRM, and after 9 months we still have had no offers, despite follwing the rules and complaining to the manager we have not only lost our £765 but also a week of our timeshare as it expired before it could be used.

This company does NOT rent your property they only market the resort, all they do is put a 2 line listing of your unit on their website. I would be interested to know if anyone has had any sucess with them??. My advice now having lost our money is dont believe the hype!!.

I have to warn you that just because an owner has listed a week for sale at $12,000 on Redweek doesn't mean they will get any takers (if it doesn't have sold on the ad = no takers) .... you have to take this into consideration when placing your ad .... most people are looking for the best deal out there.

jayjay has correctly observed, in relevant part: >> ...just because an owner has listed a week for sale at $12,000 on Redweek doesn't mean they will get any takers .... most people are looking for the best deal out there.<< ================================================

As a current and very real example / reinforcement of this point, at this very moment there is a fixed week listed on eBay at a particular Florida resort I know, with a "Buy it Now" price of $12,000. Presently, there are no offers, no bids (and none are likely to be forthcoming).

The very same fixed week at the very same resort (different seller, but exact same size unit, located on the exact same floor as the one in the listing mentioned above) sold about 10 days ago on eBay for exactly $1.00 (with only one bidder, by the way).

The moral of the story is: "A timeshare is worth what it's worth --- today --- to someone buying in the open resale marketplace. The resale marketplace does not know (and does not care) what a seller may have paid originally. The resale marketplace also does not much care about "asking price", since the exact same product is likely available elsewhere today (and if not today, then tomorrow) for a mere fraction of any overly optimistic, unrealistic, inflated figure".

The "upfront fee" companies routinely appeal to personal greed as a pretty effective tactic of persuasion. They know that would-be sellers begin to salivate when they are (falsely) told "...Oh, we can probably get you about $12k for your timeshare".

The truthful translation of the above boldfaced lie:

"We don't know, nor do we care, what your timeshare is actually worth in the resale marketplace. Once once we collect our fee from you, we don't really care whether you EVER sell it or not. All of our money is made the moment we collect our upfront fee from you. There is not another penny in it for us after that point, whether you ever sell or not, at ANY price."

The starry eyed big bucks pitch sounds appealing. Unfortunately, the unvarnished truth is far less so...

Your Mother in law can rent her Timeshare through the Org. she purchased it from. Depending on the location would depend on the amount

Dont touch these clowns!!! we fell foul of them a year or 2 ago, despite being suspicious we need some income so i went with them, 1.5 years later and many excuses, surprise, surprise we never saw any rentals, not a penny!!!, They were very rude and basically said it wasnt their fault but the economy Bah!!, Steer clear!!

Not necessarily ..... there's no guarantee that any timeshare week will rent no matter where it's listed. It's all about supply and demand of the time owned and the resort .... thousands go unrented every week.

The wonders of the Internet! I got a call today from this company and they told me they had many corporations visiting the Orlando area that were due to come here next weekend for conventions and there was a shortage of condos and places to stay! They told me they could rent my timeshare or, better yet, they had offers from corporations to buy my points (we're on a point system). I truly enjoy my BlueGreen membership, it's a little different than the typical timeshare, but their representative actually had me convinced that these corporations are knocking down the door to buy my points at a very hefty price!!!

I am so SO glad that I can find out about these types of weasels by doing a search on the Internet!!! Thanks folks, you probably saved me a bunch of money and now I can go back to enjoying my BG...:)

Little by little people are learning how these companies operate.

Thanks, in part, to timeshare forums on the internet such as Redweek that's educating the consumer concerning timeshares ... they'll tell you ANYTHING (lies) to get that upfront fee, that's all they want.
