Where to stay in Las Vegas

Hello. Am planning a trip for my 20th wedding anniversary in October and was thinking about Vegas.

Most of the reviews I have read on this site for Vegas time share properties were not good. Can anyone give me a recent recommedation?

Was considering the Jockey Club becuase of it's location right on the strip.

We've been to Vegas twice. The first time we traded into the Cancun Resort. Although it's not on the strip it's on the same highway about 5 miles down. You can see the strip at night from your balcony. They have shuttles several times a day to and from the strip.

The Cancun (Monarch Grand Vacations) is a very nice resort with a huge meandering pool including a pyramid with waterfall at the end. The pool has a small cafe where you can order food or drink. The pool is touted as being the largest of the timeshare resorts in Vegas.

The second time we went to Vegas we stayed at the Golden Nugget (very nice hotel) on Fremont St. because we prefer Fremont St. (old Vegas) with it's magnificent light shows every night, music and street performers. Fremont St. also has better deals on food and drink than the strip. We ate most of our meals at Main Street Station around the corner from Fremont St. They have a magnificent buffet.

Where ever you end up staying a trip to Fremont St. at night is a must see.

Hi. We stayed at the Fairfield Grand Desert in late September 2006. They have a free shuttle to Harrahs on the strip. If you want to walk it ,is a few blocks to the strip from the resort. A good inexpensive breakfast can be had at the Ellis Island Casino a few blocks from the resort, if you don't want to eat breakfast in your condo. We were very happy. It is a good distance between towers at the resort, but we don't mind walking. A great Italian restaurant is Fellinis, there are two locations, one near the strip, and one about a 10 minute drive away from the resort. We ate at the one not on the strip. It was a great meal, expensive but worth it.

check out the marriott grand chateau it is just off the strip 400yards next to alladin very central

We have stayed at the Hilton Vacation Club on the Strip a couple of times and really like it. However, you are up north and will need a cab or a ride on the "Duece" (public bus at $2.00/ride or $5.00/day)to get to the Strip. It's nice and clean, great service , nice pool.

You should stay at the Hilton Grand Vactions club at the Flamingo. Its right across the street from Ceasars and its on the monorail.

you may get tired of the strip after a few days, so may I suggest someplace like Tahiti (not tahiti village) on Tropicana, just off of the strip. A $10 or $12 cab ride will get you anywhere you need to go if you don't feel like driving. A beautiful resort further off of the strip is the Cliffs Club at Peace Canyon. On the south end of the strip is the RCI affiliate Grandview (nice, although construction is going on it didn't bother me). Make it a great time by reserving a surprise dinner at Batista's Hole in the Wall, at the corner of Flamingo and Audrie ( a quirky, very busy, delightful italian place to go, plus all of the free house wine you can drink) and/or Lawry's Prime Rib and ask to be served by Ms. Tremble! No matter where you end up staying, have a happy anniversary.

We just came back from Hilton Grand Vacation Club on the Strip. It was very nice. My only problem was I did not have a car, and there was only the mini market on the first floor. I was hoping they had a free shuttle to the grocery store as does The Fairfield Grand Desert. It was quite nice but I prefer the Grand Desert.

Get tired of the strip? Never! We've been to LV twice but not with timeshare. I would prefer to stay on the strip - all the hotels on there are good. Also, you can do quite a bit of walking and there are buses up and down the strip but I don't think they go off the strip and it can be quite a walk. We stayed at the Stratosphere firts time and then Circus Circus.

We own weeks at the Carriage House which is right across from the Alladin and one block from the strip, it's located on Harmon Street. It's a great location and a very nice small condo facility with very friendly staff. I would highly recommend it.

I would stay away from the Jockey Club, trying to get in/out of the parking lot is a nightmare and the units are very dated and old.

The Jockey club has a nice location, but there is on-site construction that will RUIN your vacation!!!

Avoid Jockey for the next 2 years.

There are nice "strip" timeshares and if you will rent a car, you'll find much nicer properties off the strip; I never found driving or parking on the strip to be problematic and there is very good public transportation on the strip.

We are currently staying at the Tahiti Village and LOVE it! The only drawback is the distance to the main part of the strip. We have stayed at the Marriott Chateau and while it is very nice---it doesn't compare to the Tahiti Village. The Tahiti Village is perfect for a family or couple who want to stay away from the wild life of Vegas and just relax by the pool. They also have a variety of activities and tours they offer.

HI MARGIE, WE HAVE A TIMESHARE IN LAS VEGAS NEXT TO MGM NEW,2003, VERY NICE, THE VILLAS AT POLO TOWERS ON THE STRIP, POOL ON TOP, BAR LOOKING OVER THE STRIP, EASY TO GET AROUND. HAVE A GREAT TIME, WE JUST HAD OUR 50th

We just returned from Las Vegas where we had rented a house just off the strip, a great way to go. From what we saw the Jockey Club looks very dated and the construction a nightmare.

We spend our wedding anniversary in Las Vegas every year. We used to own at the Fairfield Grand Desert, but traded last summer for Fairfield Daytona at Ocean Walk. The Grand Desert is very nice, great pools too. The last time we went we stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at the Flamingo and it is my favorite so far. It is right behind the Flamingo pool, and also has its own small pool. The Flamingo is right on the strip and we love it. In my humble opinion, you can't go wrong with either of these two resorts.

That's funny! We traded Daytona Ocean Walk for Grand Desert! Ocean Walk is a great place, but the maintenance fees are substantially lower in Vegas. We have not yet actually stayed there, so its good to see some favorable comments in this discussion.

take some advice from someone who made his first trip to lasvegas 1943/44. lst trip there pick a place you think is so over the top go there,wait 1 to 2 years go back and that place will look like a Motel6. LasVegas now has every signature restaurant from everywhere in theUS and around the world. Go enjoy a $200.00 dinner,spend your childrens inheritance.

LOL, I agree that Vegas is full of accomodation rivalry between developers to be the newest and the most spectacular, but that's Vegas for you .... always over the top :o).

My wife and I just returned JUST THIS MORNING from a week in Vegas at Fairfield Grand Desert (now Wyndham Resorts). Conveniently located on Harmon Ave. ... half way between Hard Rock Hotel and the Strip. It was our 4th time at this luxurious resort. It was fabulous as usual!

Three pools, including one for adults only, four hot tubs, ten complimentary computer stations for guests use in the Internet Rooms, an activities room for children, outdoor basketball court, on-site coffee shop, a convenient sundries store that sells milk, bread, eggs, wine, beer, soda to stock up your condo-like suite with full size refrigerator, washer & dryer. Excercize room, lots of activities, pool side entertainment, water aerobics classes, BJ tournaments, free shuttle to Harrah's & Rio every 20 minutes or so, very courteous staff, etc.

I would not consider staying anywhere else in Las Vegas. Rent a unit from an owner. Much cheaper and more luxurious than a casino hotel room.

Wow! Their convenience store even sells MILK? As totally sensible as that sounds, it is remarkably rare among resort stores. Twenty kinds of pop and no milk is more typical.
