We vacationed at VDP Flamingos from December 19 - 27 for the first time. We are timeshare owners and had never been to Nuevo Vallarta prior to now.
We had a fabulous time and this resort met our expectations in every way. I do agree somewhat with Peter's review about some of the front desk issues, however I wouldn't let any of these issues affect my holiday in any way.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which was gorgeous and spotless, just the way I like it. The grounds were also gorgeous and impeccably looked after. The pool is one of the nicest I have ever seen. The staff at the pool were great! The beach at Nuevo Vallarta is amazing...we walked at least an hour everyday. We met many others at the resort who were all very friendly and having a wonderful time.
I had read other reviews about the high food prices, however I really didn't find the prices overly high at all. The Mega store (a 5 minute cab ride) is also great...they have absolutely everything you would need at very reasonable prices.
We are definitely returning to this resort next Christmas!

We have owned timeshares for almost 20 years and had many experiences but I have NEVER felt the need to post a negative review prior to this one. I tell you this to be sure you understand how disappointed we were at Villa Del Palmar Flamingos.
Overall the frontdesk staff was uncooperative and disinterested. The supervisor, Rosario and the General Manager, Fernado made no attempt to resolve issues, even after repeated attempts on our part to try. The GM refused to even speak with us to hear our side of the problems. When a GM will not speak with guests you can be sure the guest's experience is NOT important to the resort.
The room rate we were quoted by their US reseravations company in California for our extra nights was NOT honored. When we returned today and called the office in California they again confirmed the price we were suppose to pay but could not arrange a credit for us. I think it is a scam because they never give it to you in writing. Shame on us for believing them in the first place. We had to pay an additional $300.00 over what we were quoted or they would not have given us the slip the bellman requires to order you a cab to the airport.
Additonally the room key stopped working everyday so we had to go to the frontdesk in the middle of everyday to get new keys. When they made new keys they failed to tell us the balance of the keys we already had would become inoperative. We had to figure that out on our own after the frist couple of days!
I cannot stress how unfriendly and unapologetic the staff was about our problems or other people's issues we overheard at the desk. I would not recommend staying because they ruin your vacation with their lack of concern.

We enjoyed a two bedroom, 3 bath villa this last August. It was a great facility but was a bit out of town. The taxi rides were pricey ($20 each way to town and back), but were worth the trip.
The pools are tremendous for kids. I would return.

We stayed at the Flamingos June 3-10, 2006. It was great except for the incessant noise of construction that started at 8am. Anyone who wanted to sleep after 8 would have had a problem. We learned at the sales presentation that they give the least desireable units to people trading in. We ate at both onsite restaurants and the food was quite good although prices were on the high side. We purchased a week. But, we should have done our homework first. We found that you can buy a resale for substantially less than developer prices and get the same benefits as buying direct. Anyone thinking of buying should check resale prices first.

We just returned after a wonderful week at this resort and can't say enough good things about it. The quality of the rooms and cleanliness of the grounds was impressive. The staff made us feel special and the meals were outstanding. The proximity of the beach to the pool area and hot tub was especially nice.
Resort is located close enough to Puerto Vallarta to access all the sites, yet distant enough to be a bit slower and more relaxed. This vacation was with friends who own here and upon our return we are now shopping for time here ourselves.

We checked into this resort after spending a week at the Grand Mayan, which is touted as the most luxurious resort in Nuevo Vallarta. We weren't quite sure what to expect after coming from a place that was supposed to be the best. We were very pleasatly surprsed!! The check in was simple, the bell man was wonderful and informative, and the property was delightful. All the suites face the pool areas and ocean. After spending a week at the 5 star Grand Mayan where the food was horrible and the service the same, we were very grateful to finally find the woderful food and service we have come to expect from Mexico. The waiters were superb and the food was wonderful!!. They also have a fantastic market on the property that offers many items found in a gourmet deli. wonderful!! The beach is very nice and you could walk for miles. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. This is a wonderful resort, and we would readily return.
