I'm not much of a beach or pool person, are there other interesting things to do around the resort and on the island?

The Marriott offers complementary daily activities for guests of all ages, such as sunrise beach yoga, aquatic exercise classes, koi feeding, winter whale-watching -- binoculars & handouts included, games, tournaments (such as Texas Hold-em), free pickleball/tennis courts & equipment, putting green, beach fishing, water-slide race competitions, and more. Live music and hula dancers every day at main pool. Weekly 1 hr. hula show with talented male, female and child dancers + live music/singers. Free weekday popcorn or shave ice at the pool. A weekly activity schedule can be picked up at the front desk.

The island offers hundreds of activities from hiking through Bamboo & Rain Forests to a 400' waterfall (Pipiwai Trail), view a dormant volcano crater, attend slack key concerts, keiki (children) hula shows, a Luau, view Nakalele blow hole, drive across the last lava flow to LaPerouse Bay, walk on a black sand beach, spot a honu sea turtle or monk seal. Visit Maui Ocean Center aquarium, Iao Valley's Needle, Ho'okipa Beach for dozens of honu and world-famous windsurfers, surfers, kite surfers. Whale watch raft or catamaran trips. Enjoy goat yoga & cheese, concerts at the MACC, eat incredible food everywhere! Attend a beachfront church service where "How Great Thou Art" is sung in Hawaiian while accompanied by hula dancers. Daily Black Rock torch lighting and sunset cliff dive. Tour a chocolate factory, a coffee farm, Maui Winery or Ocean Vodka. Hike through a Redwood forest. Enjoy Hosmer's Grove rare/near-extinct colorful songbirds, Lavendar farm, botanical gardens, Protea flower farms, famous Swap Meet, farmer's markets, historic churches, Chas. Lindbergh's clifftop burial site, a chance to glimpse Willy Nelson or Mick Fleetwood or Oprah. Breathtaking rainbows, sunsets, flowers everywhere.

Absolutely! For guests who love the outdoors,abundance of tours, ziplining and hiking on the island. Foodies will love the abundance of fine dining restaurants that offer local cuisine and farm to table. Maui really does have something for everyone!
