Vegas Trip
I own a unit at the Jockey Club. It's ajacent to the Cosmopolitan and right next door to the Bellagio and accross the street from Planet Hollywood. In other words a perfect location. It has been newly renovated. It is managed by Tricom Realty which in my opinion is the best timeshare management company. They have a shuttle that takes you to a supermarket twice a week so you can purchase groceries at a reasonable price. This is the only timesahre I have left and I refuse to part with it because they go out of their way to accomodate owners and guests. If you have any other questions about the timeshare or things to do in Las Vegas just ask. I know the area well and go there quite often. In my opinion the Jockey Club is the best value for your dollar in Las Vegas.

HI Donp196,
My wife and I stayed at the Jockey Club several years back before the Cosmopolitan was built. We're staying in the Holiday Inn Desert Resort this time. I was a bit worried that the Club would be squeezed out by the Cosmopolitan and be difficult to get in an out. Has that been the case?
If you have any insider tips for Vegas, I'd appreciate it if you pass them along. We aren't gamblers, more into shows, eating, site seeing.

I still own at the Jockey Club and go there pretty much every year . It's probably the best kept secret on the strip . I own an original week and have never had a problem booking time or renting it out if I'm not using it .
There is so much to do in the Vegas area besides gambling. First thing is to check out the Hoover dam and the Grand Canyon Sky Walk . That's a whole day trip and you really need to see those sites . I also recommend that you go to the Stratosphere for the view off the observation deck and if you choose you can have dinner at the Top of the World restaurant with a 360 degree view of Las Vegas .
For shows I like the Terry Fator show at the Mirage . If you are a veteran like me you get a 40 % discount on tickets . While at the Mirage you might want to eat at the Carnegie Deli . Best sandwiches in Las Vegas . One sandwich will more than feed two people . There are many shows to choose from . One good value is Mystere at Treasure Island . Reasonable price for a good show . I also like Le Reve at the Wynn . I recommend the first row if you don't mind a possible light splash of water . Just too many shows to mention .
I just booked a week in November and now I'm getting restless waiting to go after talking about it . If you don't rent a car then Uber is way to go .
Have a great time and don't get sucked into a timeshare presentation while you're there . It's not worth the loss of a half a day for some show tickets . If you have any other questions I'm on here all the time. Vegas is my second home .

Thanks Donp196,
Agree with you I do (sound like Yoda here). No timeshare presentations. I wanted to see Terry Fator but he's on holiday the week we're there. We have Elton tickets. He leaves Vegas permanently the week after we're there and we have tickets for Asbsinthe. Should be fun.
We plan to rent a car and get out to Red Rock and Valley of Fire as a change of pace. I'm hunting for a nice but not outlandish restaurant for my wife's birthday celebration. To say one has options is an understatement.
Thanks for the input. Enjoy your next stay.

The Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere offers a great 360 degree view and if you're fortunate enough to get a table at the glass you will definitely enjoy your dinner . The food isn't star quality but the view is the best on the Vegas strip . After dinner go up to the observation deck and enjoy the rides and view . You even get to watch people jump from the platform 901 feet above the ground .
There are many celebrity chef restaurants on the strip but prepared to pay a huge price for the dinner . One of my favorite restaurants is Ferraros if I spelled it correctly . It's in a shopping center right across from the Hard Rock hotel on Harmon Avenue . Fantastic homemade Italian food without the extra expense of the celebrity chef restaurants .
life is short go for the brass ring .

you seem knowledgeable about vegas and you like cats. i live in australia and haved time shares at the gold coast austgralia and hawaii. i am going to polo towers for two weeks and ik wondered if you had suggestions? i am not computer literate so dont know if you get this request. thank you kay
Kay S.
Just follow along with the conversation Kay . Feel free to ask any questions . The Polo Towers is pretty much across the street from my timeshare on the Las Vegas strip . It's a great location with so many top hotels and casinos in walking distance . I highly recommend using Uber if you are not renting a car . You have all the top shows and restaurants at your feet . I mention in some of my posts above the places i like to frequent . Feel free to ask anything. Better to be prepared and enjoy your two weeks .

its a miracle it worked for me. i saw a reference to a train like the rocky mountain with big windows for v iewing. it was going through the grand canyon. you had to go to another town and stay ovrernighht. do you have any knowledge about this? ubers have becomed sometimes more expensive than taxis in sydney. is it the same in vegas? i drive but on the other side of the road. kay
Kay S.
I don't know anything about the train but you can google that . Uber is very reasonable in Las Vegas . I use it to go everywhere when I'm there . It's a great way to go from the airport to your resort . It's just as reasonable as a shuttle and you get your own car and no stops . I highly recommend using Uber if you don't rent a car . If you decide to go to the Grand Canyon or other places out of town you can usually find a tour bus or other means to get there .

For those interested in gambling, I recommend “The 2018 American Casino Guide” by Steve Bourie. It contains detailed information on casinos not just in Las Vegas but across the country. The guide includes room rates, buffet prices, casino games offered, and coupons for discounted room rates, drinks, shows, meals, etc. It is available on Amazon.
