Looking for 1 night rental on the French Side

I am coming to St. Maarten and will be there from 11/26-12/3 and my girlfriend and I are looking to stay on the French side for one night to experience the different locations of the island. We are staying on the French side at the Royal Islander. Do they still do Carnival at Marigot on Wednesdays?? If anyone could reply with more information, it would be greatly appreciated.
