Redweek's Free New Tool 'What's Your Timeshare Worth' ....

May 13, 2011

With all due respect to Redweek for it's new tool 'What's Your Timeshare Worth' .... there are so many different variables as to what a timeshare is worth to rent or sell (ie: supply and demand). For instance, I checked to see what my timeshare would rent for (time owned, building, etc.) and no way would it rent for just $57 a night .... it might during winter season but not red hot season, which I own. The lowest cost hotel in the area wouldn't even rent for that a night.

You can't go by what a seller is asking for a sell or rental .... you have to go by what it actually sold or rented for. If you could come up with a calculation for what timeshares actualy sold or rented for, then that would be the correct calculation ... not what owners are asking.

Do you know of a way to find out what actual sales have been made and when and for how much?

You can check E-bay's completed auctions - not the listings but the completed auctions. That will give an idea as to what people are actually paying.

I know that if you're a paid member of Timeshare Users Group (TUG; tug2.net), there's a section for each resort that lists completed sales.

I agree with Lance that checking Ebay's completed timeshare auctions is the best way to find out the worth of a timeshare and timeframe .... I haven't yet checked Tug's completed sales as I didn't realize they had one.
