RCI Extortion of $99

Feb 09, 2011

I want to exchange my 2bdr gold crown resort July 4th week 2012 for 2012 Easter wk (a like unit @ my home resort) I have done this for several years and it has NEVER been a problem. For 2012 here is what I get if I deposit my July 4th week (a trading power of 28 which was assigned by RCI for year 2012 and they WILL NOT GIVE ME AN EXPLANANTION NOR ANY WRITTEN PROCESS THEY USE OF HOW THEY CAME UP WITH THIS VALUE--it's confidential!), I can get a 1 bdr unit, but if I PAY $99 (along with the exchange fee) and combine my other 2 bdr time share which I would have to deposit, I would be able to have enough trading power amt to get a 2 bdr @ Easter 2012 with a left over amt to go somewhere for another week. Here's the scam: 1. paying an exchange fee and on top of that a $99 fee to combine what use to be 2 weeks, 2 bds of Gold Crown to 1 wk @ my home resort and having about 20 trading power left which their advisor could find me NOTHING which is as highly rated as my 2 weeks I own and/or had 2 bdr for 2012 2. If I just don't use the left over 20 power in 2012, I can use them in 2013, but I just can't add them to my 2 weeks of trading power amts--I would once again have to combine them for another $99 --this is for the left over 20 that I already gave them my weeks for and paid $99 in 2012 3. You have to deposit to RCI your weeks (which they then have and you can't get back) to even see the trading power and what that allows you to get for your trading power. 4. You are now left with the exact weeks you purchased at your home resort and that is it unless you pay exchange fees and combination fees. This is absolutely NOT how any of it was in buying a time share--the deal was to buy your week and be able to trade for different resorts at different times. I feel I am just stuck with RCI, my resort belongs to no other companies, and I am being forced to swallow their deal in order to go any place. It make me furious! HOW IS THIS NOT EXTORTION, UNFAIR PRACTICES, us ETC. THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE TO ME AND NEEDS AN ATTORNEY TO ONCE AGAIN SUE RCI!!!

I feel the same way. I have also been extorted. More than once. I would love to do a Class Action law suit against RCI, a terrible company. Dana Rosas

RCI and II have their terms and conditions listed in the back of their Wishbooks (catalog of resorts). If you don't care to go along with their terms and conditions then drop them as your exchange company. A lawuit has already been thru the courts against RCI for renting exchanged weeks and nothing much came of it ... in my opinion, you're wasting your time.

Also, if RCI is permitting you to combine your weeks to get the Easter week you seek (at this late date at that) then it's a win-win situation for you. If you want an Easter week every year then you need to deposit your week at least a year in advance and choose your Easter week at that time as an exchange .... the closer to a holiday week that you seek in an exchange the less probability you will get it .
