Are timeshare rentals only available for 1 week rentals at Disney's Boardwalk?

Jun 03, 2010

Hi folks,

I am interested in renting a timeshare at Disney's Boardwalk in the future but would like to rent for 2-3 weeks or more. Is this a possible with timeshares?

In general, timeshare owners own full week access, whether by virtue of deeded weeks or assigned "points" in various systems. Accordingly, owner rentals are "by full week', far more often than not. Resorts generally also rent in full week increments (although there are exceptions for per-night stays in some bigger systems (Marriott, etc.).

In short, to book 3 consecutive weeks, you would most likely have to conduct 2 or 3 separate transactions, since few people own 3 consecutive weeks and those few who do would not be too likely to be renting out all 3 (in general). Even if you find 3 consective weeks available for rent at the same facility by renting directly from the resort, you will pay TOP dollar AND you may (unless you get very lucky) have to "move" to another unit at the end of each individual week. Finally, since owners pay maintenance fees per week (...there is no "muti week discount" on maintenance fees), you will likley save very little (if anything) in a 3 consecutive week rental. It will essentially be the cost of a one week rental --- "times 3".

I'm not personally familiar with details of DVC ownerships, but the above generic observations apply regardless and I hope they are of some help. Perhaps a DVC owner / expert will chime in with more precisie details on DVC ownerships and rentals.

P.S. Fwiw, on the Timeshare Users Group site there is a Disney-specific forum. Because of the subject specific focus there, you would get lots more viewing of your inquiry (and lots more answers too) than just posting in the "General Discussion" forum on RedWeek...
