Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

timeshare liquidators called me--anyone have experience?

Jul 12, 2009

A company called timeshare liquidators called me out of the blue to see if we wanted to sell our timeshare (Club Regina Cancun). We are very interested, but would like to know if anyone has had experience with them. Thanks.

First, I did an internet search for "timeshare resales" and no website for "Timeshare Liquidators" was found. So how many people do you think will stumble across their website?

I did search for "Timeshare Liquidators" and found their website. Their ad states they do not charge an upfront fee, but instead charge a 20% commission, subject to a minumum. They also claim they will not charge an fee greater than 50% of the sales price.

I also noticed they listed many of their timeshares on myresortnetwork.com. Instead of paying 20% commission, you can do this yourself for around $25.

If you have a high demand timeshare, you should be able to sell it yourself, as long as it is priced right. If you have a run-of-the-mill timeshare, you might have to sell it for $1 or even give it away. No third party company is going to have an advantage at selling those types of units.

Interesting that they seem to be contacting people re Club Regina Cancun. I too have been contacted. They have offered me over 16k for my one bedroom. They are the "buyer", but I retain rights (and obligations) until sold. I supposedly received payment 60 days "after all parties have been satisfied". In comparison, I have listed our Club Regina on Sellmytimesharenow for less than $5k and no one has called. Unfortunately, I stupidly paid a large fee to do this. Timeshare Liquidators is not listed with the Boston BBB, but they have 3 unresolved complaints against them. I'll be watching this forum closely before I proceed any further.

They keep calling me. Now that you've mentioned the unresolved complaints, I'm wary. I'll check this forum to see what you decide to do. I would sell my one-bedroom for 3K at this point.

There are several web sites for owners to list their TS for sale or rent without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars In addition to RedWeek, the other popular sites are: TUG, My Resort Network, bidshares, Vacation Timeshare Rentals, craigslist, and eBay.

There are tens of thousands of timeshares on the market. Do the research and price it very competitively. The biggest issue with Mexican TS is they are becoming so abundant that people choose to just rent instead of buy.

Good Luck

we had bought ours on ebay. I notice that right now, nobody can sell a Club Regina timeshare on ebay. they are listed with no reserve and get no bids. I'm not in a hurry. Hope you'll keep the forum up to date on your experience with timeshare liquidators. thanks.

PLEASE do not use Timeshare Liquidators from Boston. They do not exist. I've investigated this group and they are now part of a Federal investigation as they have bilked folks throughout the US. If you hear of a David Strickland, take the info and call the police. They go under several different aliases as well. Careful with any of these organizations, as most timeshares do not sell for the amount of money they say that they can get you. Good Luck!!

We would love to sell Club Regina also. T. Liq. is an upfront cost seller. We were recently at our Club Regina in Los Cabos. A reseller there offered to sell our Club Regina for an ad fee of $199 plus commission. He suggested a price of $8000 for our one bedroom and I told him he was crazy. They had 56 Club Reginas for sale. I would advertize on Redweek first. I foolishly paid for an add on Sell My Timeshare Now. Didn't get one call. Check out how many are for sale there.

I was scammed by Timeshare Liquidators/David Strickland...who can I call to give them my information also. It was 2 years ago, but I have kept everything, in the hopes of helping catch these people.

THANKS, Arlee

Maybe try the Attorney-General of the state where the scam artist is located. Mind you, since it has been 2 years, they have probably closed up shop and moved on under another name.

Please don't confuse other companies names Timeshare Liquidators with my company in California There seems to be other companies by the same name in other states. I do not know their business model but, I never do cold calls and I have never taken an upfront fee to list a timeshare. My business model is completely commission based. When you get paid your proceeds, I get paid my commission.
