A truly eloquent and articulate farewell; thank you so much for sharing it with us...
In my personal opinion and experience, RedWeek is a truly great site for sales and /or rentals. While the RedWeek forums may not yet be frequented by folks with the level of timeshare knowledge and experience evidenced on TUG or Timeshare Forums, it's also true that "forums" are a relatively new development for RedWeek. My hope and belief is that the level of discourse in RedWeek forums will elevate with the passage of time. In the meantime, you get out of it mostly what you put into it....

This person has redweek.com mixed up with an upfront fee resale company. This person posted on another thread that they paid $400 to have their timeshare sold, and never heard from the company again. I answered the op in that thread below:
"Redweek doesn't sell timeshares .... the are merely a listing site for timeshare sales and rentals BY owners. Owners make up their own ads and list their own prices for sales and rentals, Redweek has no control over that.
Also, you evidently have redweek.com (the site you're on now) mixed up with an upfront fee resale company."

Ken, you're right ... two different posters, however I still reiterate that Redweek does not sell tmeshares .... OWNERS do or do not (depending on resort, location popularity, season popularity, price (supply and demand). As you know some timeshares can't even be given away.

Ken I,m lost here because I checked this poster on search and it shows nothing.
I checked Teresag79 on search and only post that comes up is this one today.
Not sure how this search works but it sounds like same person and two names. Why would you be directed to this post from teresag79's listing?
Also seems funny to have two different people be this clueless about where they are and throwing their money away on same day.

Phil: On 9/14/ 08, a "teresag79" posted in the "Buying, Selling, Renting" forum, in a post entitled "RedWeek.com Rip off". On 9/15/08, the same "teresag79" offered an apology in that same forum for the erroneous accusation made on 9/14. I can't explain a "search" failing to retrieve only one of those two offerings from the very same poster.

Maybe so; I have no idea...

Odd perhaps, but still possible and believable...

I definitely agree with you concerning Tug, but Timeshare Forums has very few members compared to Tug and very few posts on a daily basis .... Tug has thousands of very timeshare knowledgable members as and hundreds of posts a day.

Yes, the difference in volume between those two sites is considerable, but it was not my intention to compare the two sites --- merely to identify each one as being (...generally, anyhow) populated by knowledgeable and experienced timeshare people. Information (when well informed and accurate, anyhow) is always beneficial, wherever found. Here on RedWeek, perhaps because forums are a relatively new addition, there is usually much more information sought than actually provided...

As a licensed real estate broker and owning two timeshares, I was delighted with my investigation of redweek.com and it's service record. Trust me folks...I did deligent research about them and their success and satisfaction record is highly commendable. I sold my week at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun in only 3 weeks after posting it back in 2005 and got substancially more for it than I had originally anticipated. My friend recently rented out two weeks of timeshare through their network in less than 30 days. The only thing I would add is that if you have a timeshare that is not up to quality standards don't be surprised to get a lower quote for resale or rental. Either way, I have and will continue to recommend them!
