Timeshare assessments

Oramge Lake could care less about its owners, you'll see again this December when they raise the assessments. They have total disregard for the owners, with the banking problems, stock market etc, if there not careful their going to end up with alot of condos to sell. People are struggling with gas prices, paying for homes etc but do they care, I think not.

I am assuming that when you refer to "assessments", you actually mean "maintenance fees". Special assessments are something entirely different from maintenance fees; special assessments are separate, unexpected charges imposed for major overhauls, such as after sustaining hurricane damage, etc.

Personally, I don't know Orange Lake from Grapefruit Pond, but the fact is that ALL resorts have to be maintained and managed, all year round, all the time. That process takes money, which derives from owner maintenance fees. The state of the economy, gas prices, global warming, the stock market, etc. are all completely irrelevant to the need for routine and ongoing facility maintenance.

I feel your pain; maintenance fees from timeshare ownership bite into wallets already depleted by other high costs of living. That said, however, you really can't legitimately place blame upon any particular resort, unless there are specific issues or unacceptable practices going on there which warrant them being singled out. Just my opinion...

Annual rising maintenance fees are one of the main pitfalls of timeshare ownership along with possible special assessments.
