Posting Once a Property is Rented
Owners;
I'm reaching out to all of you with hopes that when your property is rented can you please update the advertisment. I can not tell you the dissappointment I've been facing these past 3 weeks. I placed interest in SEVERAL locations in Cabo, St.Thomas, St.John, Bahamas, and Aruba. After 23 leads ALL came back to me rented! It is quite discouraging that the owners are not updating their property as rented, once it has been.
This would be a tremendous service that you would be giving to potential renters such as myself. Thank you!

Owners that have rented or sold need to discontinue their ads. When performing this procedure, Redweek's software will ask if the week was rented or sold, therefore a sign of such will be posted in the ad.
I would also send a note to Redweek staff of owners that are keeping outdated ads on this site.

Good question .... in this situation I would keep the ad up until the final payment is received.
If I had other inquiries, I would tell them that you have a downpayment on the rental, but you're waiting to take the ad off until the final payment is received.

I would just add to my ad " Rental contract in process".
If interest please e-mail in case of deal not completed in timely manner. Thank You
This way you keep your ad up but your not wasting peoples time by going through e-mailing you just to find you might have rented.
Most people with interest won't wait anyway because they will be looking for another unit.
I would never wait long for payment and maybe give them chance to find better deal and leave me hanging.
Rental is to be paid with signed contract and no refunds later.
This also stops all these sad stories that people come up with when they do find better deal and in many cases a few weeks before their vacation they might find last minute owner just trying to make maintance fee so deal is locked in with payment.
If someone is going to pull this then they understand upfront that they can not waste your time!
Of coarse if they had a loss in the family I would let them out with proof and refund their money but that is it.

Thanks for more good advice! It always helps to have a bit of input in hopes of doing things correctly.

That's one of the problems with Redweek's forum software ... when someone clicks 'reply to this message' it then repeats all replies that were posted beforehand. I definitely agree that it gets very confusing with all the duplicate replies. I would hope that Redweek would find an easier to read forum software as the forums are a tremendous help to all Redweek members and others who read them.

jayjay.. thanks for your reply.... which I 'tested' and sure enough, yer correct... However, WE (the posters) can surely take a few minutes to EDIT (select the relevent quote or whatever and discard the rest) the previous messages then a LOT of time would be saved. I notice that a few posters are employing that tactic already and THANKS to them for it. Let's all follow by their good example.

don, I try to do that (delete former posts) when replying to a thread, but there are many people who are not as internet forum savvy as you and I. I try to keep this in mind. Once again, it would really be a plus if Redweek changed their forum software.

Personally, I routinely try to go one step further when posting, deleting virtually EVERYTHING except the exact, specific point to which I am responding. I'll even insert an entirely new subject line if it seems that the subject has drifted too far off the original subject / topic within a thread. Unfortunately, however, some folks just post in the forums as though it was a "stream of consciousness" exercise, with no particular regard to the forum subject or even the particular thread subject. I'm certainly all for "free speech", but there is also nothing wrong with a little organizational effort, thought and consideration along the way. In an increasingly ADHD, "right now" society of semi-literate non-thinkers however, well.....let's just say that "hope springs eternal".
