Marriott's Timber Lodge Tahoe

October activities

Does anyone have any information what activities might be going on in South Lake Tahoe in October 2008, specifically the week of the 18-25th? Our family is gathering there for a celebration. Also, I am finding it difficult to get a room(s) at the Marriott there for that time period. Is there a convention booked at that time?
