Suggestions? - travelling with 1 year old

Apr 24, 2007

Hello;

I hope I am posting this question on the right forum. My husband and I will be travelling from Canada in September with our 1 year old son this year. We have no idea where to go. We want to go somewhere warm, but a beach isn't necessary as long as there are pools. We also don't want to be travelling all day, which is why Palm Springs and Arizona (maybe Sedona?) came to mind. Can anyone offer any advice on which locales are great to travel to with a 1 year old? Thanks!

Then you need to book for a hotel room there. But be ready for some changes that can make your child uncomfortable. Also, if possible, choose a hotel which is like a vacation club, where there's already a pool for every visitors.

I imagine it's hot, hot, hot in AZ in Sept as it can get well over 100 degrees in the summer months and Sept is on the cusp of summer. Be sure and check the temps in Sept if you decide to go to AZ.

Personally, I would go somewhere that's cooler and that caters to children/toddlers. A Disney cruise comes to mind .... the staff will entertain your toddler while you and your hubby find other entertainment onboard.

We know of a family of sisters (4) and their husbands that went on a Disney cruise and they had a ball .... the children (11 of them) were entertained while the adults found entertainment elsewhere onboard. They said this would defintely be a yearly event. They can't say enough good about Disney Cruises.

Also, where ever you go be sure that your child has a shady place to nap and get out of the sun.
