I am about to purchase a timeshare at the Atlantis...2 bedroom...Platinum week for 25K...Is this a good deal and what "benefits" do I lose out by being involved in a resale

Timeshares are very hard to resell for what you have in them,I have one lease with 4 units in mexico, and am having a hard time trying to resale.I have 22 years left on my lease, but am retired and just want out. My weeks are prime also.

Even though Atlantis is a very popular resort, you have to ask yourself if one week of vacation a year is worth 25K. What are the yearly maintenance fees and how much do they rise each year? How much are airplane tickets now and in the future? How will your life change in the years to come?

If you've been browsing the resale sites for an Atlantis week, and just because someone is asking 25K or more does not mean it will sell it for that amount or anywhere near that amount. The market/buyer sets the price of any given week of timeshare.

And, as sam said above, it's much easier to buy a timeshare than to sell a timeshare.

If I was you, I would cool down and do much more research before buying any timeshare. 25K is a very major investment.

P.S. There are 141 rentals and 32 resales at Atlantis on Redweek alone. There are probably thousands on other resale and rental websites.

It is located in the Bahama section, Paradise Island, Harborside at Atlantis.

Developer salespeople will tell prospective buyers that they will have NO TROUBLE renting their timeshare. As can be seen on Redweek, that is a false statement with 141 rentals listed and only a few have been rented of the 141 weeks available.

Of the 32 resales, only 3 have been bought and I doubt seriously the buyers paid anywhere near the asking price.

Jayjay; I find it interesting that when you tell someone the truth.....it suddenly gets very quiet. LOL

Hope he took your advice!
