anyone been to this resort?
We purchased in 2010 not to rent it out but because we heard it was beautiful. We are very happy with coco sunset beach club enjoyed our stay and on the off years hope to rent it out. But if no one rents it it was a bargain for the trip. So not a plant just a happy owner. Will be happy to get there again soon!

It's really a shame that Costa Rica has allowed this scam to go on. These people should be arrested for this blatant fraud. I was sold a timeshare with Miramar and Omnicorp guaranteed rental. Now they are say that because of an earthquake last October they can't rent my weeks. What bull....!

I bought a biannual two bedroom in 2010 and gave 2 weeks to Phoenix Property Property Management to rent for me as recommended and endorsed by Coco Sunset. Anyone else had any luck or have heard of Phoenix? As of today and at least a dozen calls to them later still no rentals. They are wearing me down. I think Coco sales rents all the available units down there with nothing left for other companies. I would not have bought if knowing this fact. Anyone had any dealings with Phoenix?

Do you happen to have any updated information to share about this resort? I am beginning to feel stuck in the same situation and am nervous to see all these posts.

I was guaranteed $28,500.00 for the purchase of my time share in Cabo within 300 days of purchasing my Fractional Ownership from Cindy at Coco Sunset on April 9, 2012. I cannot get any response form Coco Sunset and Omni Corp. keeps telling me that everything is on schedule and they are waiting for their money before sending us ours. I truly feel like we were scammed. We are looking into going legal with all involved. We really regret dealing with Cindy Kidd, Coco Sunset and Omni Corp. Hopefully they will prove us wrong before we proceed with legal action.

elisat10 and others, You are not alone. You will get absolutely nothing from Omnicorp, or Executive Properties, or Platinum, or Phoenix. No one ever has. There is strength in numbers. Email Karla at steilka@iowatelecom.net to hear of what a group of 70 others has done. Don't talk about this, DO IT
Patrick T.
Michaelg896: Coco on its own does not rent out units. Some are timeshares, but there apparently are plenty available. Your problem is that you're terribly naive -- Phoenix is a scam, you've been taken, you've lost your money, and have a unit at Coco you probably would not have bought except for the promises made by the salesmen there and Phoenix. Sound about right? Email Karla at steilka@iowatelecom.net to find out what a group of others in your shoes has done.

I'd like to know if your attorney is in Costa Rica & who it is. I'm in Coco now & stay at other places. I'd love to get my money back, but don't think it's possible. All timeshares are scams, so I don't see how an attorney can help. when you sign the contract you only have 3 days to get out of it. The promises by the other companies to rent out the time share are bogus too

I could use some help on this too. We also got ripped off with the same story about them selling our existing timeshare and renting out the weeks on the new unit. I checked with the BBB in Ilinois and found their (Omnicorp)adress is not even valid and the BBB recommends going to the attorney general.

Peggy, actually, in Mexico you have 5 business days, and in Costa Rica you have 8 business days to rescind the contract. The relevant law in CR is 7472, article 40. You must present your request in writing, and our experience at Coco is that they reluctantly do agree to the rescission. Re the rental: there are a few online places to list your rental (Redweek is one!) that are legit, but certainly you have to be wary of anyone who calls you with great offers -- as you say, those are pretty much all scams.

What about filing a complaint with the M E I C (Ministry of Economy Industry and Commerce) ..the office is in Liberia, Costa Rica, not far from Coco, the company that sold timeshare, Coco sunset sharing s a (3 101547597) is listed on their official site, all contracts were made at the same time of the sales, and it seems it was deceptive practice, unrealistic promises, which is very bad and this MEIC has its own legal department, and they have the powers to remove their license, and possibly make them reimburse clients. It is a free service, as long as you have a translator, and all your papers with you..they will have to make a study to see if they really have the right to sell timeshare, in a region where it seem to have a residential zooning..and second if a deceptive practice is authorized with tourists visiting this country.. It is very difficult to follow this business, Coco sunset vacation club , now is Bahia Turquesa Residenses, and contract made under Coco Sunset Sharing S A. changing b o d. if anyone has the company number for this new one(Bahia Turquesa). and verify if they are registered in Costa Rica,, This message is for the previous person who is in Costa Rica now, a lawyer from Playas del coco would not be recommended. but one from another city. Good Luck

I doubt that I will get any money back, but these evil people need to be stopped.

I was guaranteed $23,900.00 for the purchase of my gVC/Diamond Resorts points by Feb 2013 having agreed to purchase 3 weeks every other year at the Miramar Residence Club, Guanacaste, Costa Rica in April 2012. I dealt with a Scott Riggs and Barbara ZImmerman of Omnicorp Developments. I did get a phione call back in the Summer saying everything was on track but as yet nothing has appeared. If you require assistance in any legal proceeding please do not hessitate to ask. I also dealt with Cynthia Urena@playasdelasplamas.com as well as Monique at the same address.

Yes, I want to pursue legal proceedings. I am hoping to find other people who were victims of fraud to organize a lawsuit. Please write to me at the e-mail address in my previous post.

I emailed Karla last night about this...same thing happened to me and my wife. Karla did you get my email (tmccart1@san.rr.com) I sent and were you able to add me to the list?
Thanks,
Tim
Tim M.
Tim, I have sent several e-mails to "Karla" with no response. However, when after I started writing on this site, I got a call from someone in Mexico who says she is part of a team investigating the owners of Coco Sunset. I am wondering if Karla is just another set up. Do be careful. If you ever get in contact with her, let me know, please.
Coco Sunset took me for a lot, and they set me up with Platinum Resort Services and Holiday Systems International, two other scams that take people's money and do nothing. I am pursuing legal action and taking every avenue I can think of to expose these evil people. I believe they are truly evil.

I think this "Karla" is an imposter that was trying to divert our attention from taking any action while we waited for her to get back to us. I started to become suspiscious of her when I got an email from Omnicorp the same day she emailed me back with a story of what a coincidence it was that she had a "son" that went to college in my state. That was several weeks ago and i have not heard from her since.
