Royal Hacienda
yes, there is royal resorts points. Everytime you use your Member ship card while your at the resorts or purchase a trip from the Royal Vacation club, you get points on your card. I was wondering if anyone done it yet. I think I'm going to join. When you go to your Royalresort.com page on the left hand side it says Royal Resort Points. Alicia

I've used Royal Resorts points. The above poster has the basic idea, but you do not get points for purchases made with your room key card at the resorts (ie. food, bar bills, store). You acquire points through the Royal Vacation Club (air transportation booked through them, renting additional nights, that sort of thing) or through referrals. If you refer someone who eventually purchases a villa, you will receive $250 in points. At check out, the points can be converted to dollars, 1:1. The person purchasing a new villa has to give your name as the member who referred them. The salesperson then has to do the paperwork in order for you to get the points. There is a Royal Resorts Points desk in the membership room at the Royal Sands. I can't say for the other Royal Resorts. Membership is easy, and free.

Alicia: You're right. I've checked out the Royal Vacation Club airfare prices and I've never seen any bargins. Additionally, for week long rentals, going privately always is cheaper as well. Where we've picked up some points is through a referral, a friend also purchased at the Haciendas, and from a one night rental (Friday) when the airfare was significantly better to fly in on a Friday than on a Saturday. You can get points from that SkyMed emergency transport service, but unless you're elderly with poor health, who would enroll in that? So, whether it's worth it or not to join, the honest answer is probably not, but it only takes a few minutes of your time, is free, so why not? Who knows, maybe a friend or a family member will also become members? Keeps an option open. But it's certainly up to you --

The website did a daily update during the time Dean was in the area. THe last one I read said all 6 resorts did fine and every thing was opening back up that afternoon. This was a few days ago. They had photo's showing the resorts all boarded up. I'm betting they still have the updates on the homepage of the website.

I did hear that once phase 3 and 4 are done - they will have a trolly going in to Playa Del Carmen on a regular basis like their other resorts. How far is this from Playa Del carmen. I read something that said it wasn't very close?

The Haciendas only got the tropical storm portion as Dean came onshore between Chetumal and Majual (spelling?). We were able to stay in our villa while this was going on and we slept through most of it. :)Has anyone heard about the Haciendas after hurricane Dean?????
