anyone been to this resort?
HI, I recently contact redweek on timesharescam.com and they said one has to be very careful on any website, they often look authentic and legit. So, they did not really say one way or another. The site makes it sound so easy to recoup your money etc. It would be great if we had more comments on the site. The trouble is alot of times the scam artist themselves write stuff on the forums to make us think these companies sites are okay. Good luck on the pursuit.

Hi,
I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone on the class action suite. Does anyone know if it's still happening?
JimW376, I believe we have responded to your emails, maybe you can send again if you did not get any replies. Thanks.

Don't count on any check coming from timeshare resales arranged by Coco Sunset. We sat through the presentation in August 2011 and when it came time to close, we told the sales person we already own two timeshares and don't need anymore. Randy told us if we bought with them, he could give us a guaranteed written contract through Optimus Inventory Distribution to sell our two Hilton units within 300 days of contract signature. We bought a 30 year 2BR fractional ownership for $28,500 plus $1149 for an "event planner fee" to Optimus. It all looked very official but 300 day mark passed in June. Our contract with Coco also includes ten years which Optimus is supposed to pay $2500 to use our week for marketing for ten years. We tried to contact Optimus to find out the status of the sale at the end of June 2012. They've abandoned their web site and no longer answer the phone. My wife sent an email to Coco Sunset about Optimus and the sale they guaranteed but Coco never responded. Crusing the Internet, we've found Pablo Rodriguez and Raul Israel Anaya Ramirez linked to Optimus and several other disreputable sites. Perhaps the Coco Sunset developer is also a victim here but consumers need to be wary. There may be other avenues to seek justice but the best thing we can do now is to spread the word to save others the losses we've experienced.

We are in the same exact position with Optimus and Coco from last summer. These big time rip off artist/crooks at the Miramar Vacation Club/ Coco Sunset Club need to be stopped. Please join the movement on spreading the word against all involved. As for the developer we are sure they know what's going on a help promote this behaivor.

Davidj573: Yes. Unfortunately Coco Sunset Sharing S.A. has used several alias names: Cocosunset Vac Club CR, Costa Rica Paradise Vacations, and Costa Rica Vacations. Their "U.S." partners have also operated under several names: Executive Properties, Omnicorp Development, Optimus, Optimus Inventory Distribution, Buffalo Closing Management, Miramar, and Platinum Resort Services. None of these entities are trustworthy and all have bilked thousands of dollars from vacationers who thought they were investing in fractional ownership and/or selling of their existing timeshare.

David,
If you "recently" bought, maybe that's within the 8 day recission period allowed by CR law. If so, and you're there, march into the Coco office and demand a cancellation. Say you know you have 8 days to do so. Do not take no for an answer. And get a copy of the credit card receipt for the cancellation. If you've already spent $$ on a US partner, it's probable that they are gone -- but demand that Coco send them a fax or email requiring them to cancel as well. Stay there as long as it takes. Be obnoxious if you have to be -- they are scum so don't feel bad. Oh, and tell the Forum who your sales people were. They're scum that we want to expose. If you're home, write an email, write a letter and send it by fax and registered mail, TODAY (I know you'll need to wait until tomorrow for the post office...) to Coco, again specifying you know the CR consumer protection law gives you 8 days. Send copies to the credit card companies. And then email Karla at steilka@iowatelecom.net for info on what else you can do.

I was wondering if they lived up to their agreement with you as of yet?Omnicorp Development can be contacted in Springfield, Illinios at 217-718-3394. omnicorpdevelopment.com. I purchased the Fractional Ownership on April 8, 2012. I guess I will find out if this was a legitimate purchase within 300 days when my timeshare sale is finalized.

Danielt130 and Donnab263: After all you've read here, why do you think Omnicorp would live up to any agreement? They are not registered as a legitimate business in Illinois; they are about to get an F ranking from the BBB which can't find them; their address is an office building in Springfield, that has no record of them; their web site's "owner" is in Mongolia (go figure!); they make the same claims that Executive Properties and Optimus made two and one year ago -- and never fulfilled even once (i.e., not one person in the past two years has received any money from selling a timeshare or renting Coco through either of these "companies"; their paperwork is essentially the same as the other scammers; and finally, the people you deal with -- when they answer the phone -- probably are using aliases and working out of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Challenge them to provide references, both for themselves and for real clients, not trolls. They won't, because they can't. And you still believe? Wow... We know the feeling, though. For more info, and to find out what you can do, contact Karla.

Daniel,
This is a total ripoff (sorry to tell you!!). We were ripped off has summer. I saw the same thing on Redweek, and thought my deal with Optimus and Miramar would still work out. We talked to Cindy Kidd (our sales crook) and she assured us Optimus contract was good since they switched from Executive to Optimus (Executive, Omnicorp, and Optimus) are all bogus front compainies. Well 1 year later, we are just like the other ones and figured out we were scammed big time. If you still owe them any funds DO NOT PAY IT!! If you paid it I'm sorry.. Good luck and join the cause..

I just want to point out that the sketchy, illegal treatment of Optimus / Omnicorp is NOT connected to Coco Sunset directly... I have recently talked to them about that company specifically and they feel just as scammed as many of us. They no longer work with that company because of it. Coco Sunset is pretty legit... just make sure you do your research on the third-party companies yourself before you sign ANYTHING!!!

It is convenient for Coco to disavow any partnership with Optimus, Executive Properties or Omnicorp but I sat through the sales pitch and "Randy" assured my wife and I he received his check from Optimus and was very pleased with the arrangement Coco had with them (yeah, right!). Randy assured us Optimus was legitimate and would fulfill their agreement. The resale partner is vital to Coco Sunset to close with buyers who already own timeshares elsewhere. If it weren't for that contract, we and many others would never have bought from them. Their business model is based on fraudulent promises they have no intention of following through on. Direct or indirect, they are aware of the fraud and use it to their advantage. We were told they switched from Executive Properties to Optimus for the same reason they told others they switched to Omnicorp. Bottom line is Coco Sunset is a direct beneficiary of the partnership, regardless of the name of the selling agency. They obviously have something to gain and if they weren't partners, they wouldn't mention a resale option.

Jimr410 I see you're new to the forum. It's great to hear you've "talked" with Coco. Now, time to put up or shut up. WHO did you talk with? WHEN? WHAT was said? If they "feel just as scammed as many of us," then WHAT are they going to do about the situation? WHY haven't they stopped it? We all know the principal scammers there -- WHY are they still working for the Coco sales dept? Why is Travis Gogue / Scott still there? What about Randy McIntyre? These are long-established scammers. I will believe you when you answer these questions. If not, then you have just exposed yourself as a troll for Coco. If I am wrong, and you have established some dialog with them that would help our cause, I apologize and welcome your input. Respond openly here, and then to Karla at steilka@iowatelecom.net
