Royal Hacienda

Go to the Members Room on the Royal Resorts web site and check out the Interval Exchange form. The fee for an internal exchange is $129 US. You can also call the toal free number to talk with a customer service representative. They are very helpful. You are going to love your new villa!!!kathleenc103 wrote:I know you can bank your lock off with Interval International but as of right now the Hacienda's do not exchange well. I was so surprised about this since Interval wrote a nice article welcoming the Royal Hacienda's saying how nice of a resort it will be and of course it's a royal. I called Interval about the lack of any good exchanges and they thought maybe at this point it's because the resort is under construction and in time the exchange will be greater. I thought it would be better then my week 8 at Shawnne Mountains which is falling apart and the Hacienda's is a five star right on the beach. I even put my week 48 at the Hacienda's through the new Red week exchange program to see how many points it would receive and it was much lower than my Shawnee resort. I put the whole villa in not just the lock off to see how high the point value would be. I did also put in the Royal Carribbean (same dates) to see what there points would be with the red week exchange program and they were also much higher so it must be the construction at the Haciendas that's pulling it down, I hope :0) Kathaliciag23 wrote:Since I am new at this and still trying to understand how all this works. We are new owners at RH and our first stay will be the week of May 24 to 31, 2008. However, we will not be able to make it due to kids exams etc. Since we are new at this, can we exchange this week for another week (in June 2008)with another owner at RH?
Thanks, shoram2

Check out RedWeek.com's exchange program to deposit your week.

The form you need is found by going to www.royalresorts.com and the link is http://www.royalresorts.com/members/exchange_new_eng.pdf.
You should have your member # and pin number on your membership card. Otherwise, you can request it through the Members Room part of the website.
All internal exchanges are now handled by the resort directly, and often times they can offer you something immediately. I called them directly and spoke to their internal exchange department, as we did an internal exchange this year for week 16 instead of 17. They told me over the phone that they had space available at The Royal Islander, which is the resort we wanted, and we were able to get our plans finalized quickly. I faxed the Internal Exchange form to them, and within a couple weeks, we had an exchange confirmation via email! Once the exchange was confirmed, we contacted Jesus Reyes Serpa in Inventory Control, and he filled our request for villa location. It was a very easy process! :-)
I hope this helps! Welcome to Royal Resort ownership! You'll be glad you made the decision to purchase at a Royal Resort property!

Hello everyone. I got information from a travel agent that the Riveria Maya is going to be the new Cancun. In years to come, the mail road with have lots of hotels on the beach area and the other side of the road will have restuarants, clubs, etc.....I think this is going to be a HOT spot!!!!!!

Hello, I sure hope it doesn't become the next Can Cun. I love the unique, quaint, smaller, village or seaside community feeling of Playa Del Carmen versus the vast, fast, city like feeling of Can Cun. We own the Royal Haciendas weeks 5 & 6 "odd years" and Four weeks at the Mayan Palace down the road. We love the Haciendas more than any other place, but could only afford so much vacation, plus we have two weeks in Palm Springs. My husband and I wish they were all Royal Haciendas weeks. Maybe someday we can pick up some resell - Of course I truly don't believe they'll be losing their value as they are the very best of the best!! Deena

Hi all, I did some research on car rental. The Royal Resorts web site http://www.royalresorts.com/carrental.stm will guide you to Elite Car Rentals as their on site agency.
Got the following quotes from Elite following an e-mail request -- Sub Compact $120 USD per week Mid Size $147 USD per week Jeep Wrangler $250 USD per week Minivan $455 USD per week
Insurance is messy, first your insurance coverage from home will not cover you. You are at the mercy of the car rental company. Elite quoted the following insurance coverages -- DDW -- full coverage no deductable $34 USD per day CDW -- Collision Damage & Theft w/deductable (10% of car value) $26 per day ALI -- 3rd party damage & liability $14 USD per day
Has anyone had experience with Elite?

We just returned from the Royal haciendas after trading our week at Grand timber lodge through Interval. It is very close. Maybe 5 miles. They are now offering free shuttle service to playa. Started the free shuttle service the week we were there. Also they now have a great dive guide service right on site Dive Balam and if you dive they were great.

Jim, You mention the car rental price for the week and then you mention the insurance coverage. Is that on top of the rental price also?????? I think that's a lot of money for the week. You should check another rental company. I was also checking for car rental. I put in the subject box (Cancun airport car rental) Whole bunch of car rentals came up.... Let me know the deals!!!!!

Kimberly. I very pleased about the shuttle, gives me second thought about renting a car. Do you any gossip about the Haciendas???? Did they do the welcome party, Taco party for the resort???? Is the restaurant inside by the bar area open yet??? Alicia

aliciag23 wrote:We did do the taco party and the food was very good. It only costs about $10 for a taxi ride into town (playa del Carmen) or you could walk the beach and get there in about an hour. The only restaurants open at this time are the main restaurant on the beach and the pool bar has a restaurant. Food at both restaurants is very good. The only complaint I have at this resort is the lack of restaurants. I hate having to cook on my vacations but you can go into playa and shop at wal-mart for groceries. I prefer to eat out and not have to cook on vacation so It would be nice if they had some more restaurants. It doesn't really sound like they are going to have any specialty restaurants for quite a few years. The buffets at the restaurant on the beach were very good. Food is rather expensive for a family of 5. We normally travel to Mexico and stay at an all inclusive because it saves us a ton of money for food and drinks. I would not buy a drink other than happy hour because they cost around $8-9 a drink.Kimberly. I very pleased about the shuttle, gives me second thought about renting a car. You are right, the insurance costs are in addition to the weekly rate and that puts the car rental option over the top. I checked most of the ones from internet searches and prices are all about the same. I only reported on the one recommended by Royal Resorts. Right now we will be using the Thomas Moore airport transfers and wait to decide on car rental after we are settled at RH.

We rented a car at Hertz for under 90 dollars in Feb 07 and our Credit card covered the insurance out of the country. The car seat we rented cost almost half the car rental costing 40 for the week. Hertz is right on site at the airport and it was a great experience and the car wasn't big but great on gas and newer. Kath

Kimberly I know what you mean about eating out and enjoy vacation while your at and not cook at home. But I do have to say, the last time we stood at the Mayan, my Husband and I got tired of eating out. We actually enjoyed eating in. But again, your the family of 5, I only 2 :o) There is a big difference. I do remember when we bought the unit we realize that there was NOT enough restuarants at the Haciendas. I guess going into the town will make up for it. Happy Hour is the way to go!!!!! We also buy our beer/mix at the store, keep in the room until HAPPY HOUR COMES ALONG...:o) Thanks for sharing.

Just wanted to give our opinion. Thank you.I just read on another forum that this place is indeed open, but so much construction going on they couldn't enjoy their vacation at all. They were telling people to beware. I'd hate to spend $$ on a vacation and hear construction all day long. Also, they said the beach was full of construction trash. Doesn't sound good. Don't know if they were just unhappy about something and wanted to 'trash' the place or if it's ligit. Thought I'd pass along anyway.
