The Grand Mayan at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta

Questions for those who have been there

Apr 13, 2008

Hello, We are staying at the Grand Mayan in October of this year. We have a 2 bedroom reserved. From reading the reviews, some units are much more desirable than others. We are looking for a unit away from construction noise and a nice view. What should we request at check in? Thank you, Judy

you have to ask for ocean view and pool view. This is what happened to me. They kept saying yes and than gave me the other side. They smile politely and yes you to death, and than do not really do it. It took me three room changes to get a decent view and a clean room. If you keep insisting it will eventually happen, but they do everything possible to keep those rooms clear. It was not even busy when i checked in. it is really exhausting. If you are like most people and do not care much about the manipulation you will be better off. it happened to really bother me. of course everyone wants the same thing...a quiet room with a decent view.

Hi Judy,

If you an owner, then you have to request an ocean/pool view now so it is on your reservation way ahead of time. if you are renting from someone else, then you should ask them to please do this for you.

It is true that not everyone is able to get the ocean and pool views. But if you try to have it on the notes from when you made your reservation, it will help. Also, demand it (but very nicely...you get more of course when you do it with a smile) when you check in. You can also call ahead to the resort itself a few days ahead of time and ask them to put a note on the reservation for you.

Some of us have special profiles where we have guaranteed ocean view rooms and can pick which builiding the unit is in, the floor, location of the room, etc. So, when I rent out my units, I do ask a little bit of a higher price for this guarantee. I can also reserve my unit 12 months ahead of time instead of 6 months.

All of the buildings at the resort do have ocean views.

I hope this answers your questions. We have stayed there many times and love it there. We have stayed many places in Mexiso on both coasts and still think that the enitre Puerto Vallarta area has the most to offer by far.

Have a great time!

Beth

I'm an owner with the the GM also. Though we were put through a tiring sales session the first time, we did buy after much negotiation. We are also Profile A owners. I like the benefits of this ownership, the resorts we've been to, and the professionalism of all the hotel staff. I am not too happy with a lot of the sales staff, but a few have been good. Ownership for use is great. Ownership for renting isn't. Timeshare ownership has advantages over regular hotels and I don't think I could ever return to staying at any AI-type resort again. Give me my timeshare. Note: my wife may not entirely agree with me, but she really loves the Mayan resorts to which we've been.

First off I'm not a owner I own elsewere. spent a week there with friends. Sat through presentation it was standard. We ate on property all week thought food was excellent. Liked Italian restaurant #1. I find it hard to believe they would not help your son if it was a maintenance problem. If you think that sand is coarse go to Hawaii. We took boat ride with six people. I spend a lot of time in hotels and resorts this was 5* for cleanliness. I found snacks at Sun market fresh and service, friendly. I have a small disability and was always being offerd rides in golf carts. Staff is very frindely. I am sorry you can't handle washing a few dishes. Stay Home

I take all 4-6 of my teenage grandchildren there every year, (past 4 years) Safe, lots to do, Lazy River, 6-7 pools, Love all the activities. Ping pond, water volleyball, (all ages) real family fun. I helped a little guy up to help him serve. He spoke no English, I no Spanish. Not a lot of loud boistriouss kids. Ceramic painting, , poolside bingo. My family is so grateful for memories they have planted in their minds of the glorious vacations. Grand daughter wants to get married there. SAFE enviorment. That is why I have 4 + weeks there to use and rent. 5 STAR for sure. Shirley

The remark about the owner saying his rentals are a little more is true. If you are a Profile A owner, we can get more for you, as we paid more for extra's.Golf and massages included. They alway listen when I ask and fulfill my requests. Especially Ocean views, close to elevators for older folks. Cabs are cheap, so going out 2-3 times to local resturants is OK> GM now has several great meal packages. We get the middle package. . Dinners and breakfasts 3-4 times a week. Eat snacks in room. One trip to WalMart gives us food, wine, snacks, ceral, eggs, hot dogs for the week. Spa nice. But they should sugguest clients not talk so loud and much in the spa. My son and kids went to driving range at night and golfed several times. For real GOLFERS, we have a package of 16 ronds and 2 massages a week included.
