jayjay,

thanks for the suggestion of adding my review to redweek.com so that redweek has recent reviews too.

adahiscout,

I did find where I think you were talking about. If you go to "My Account" on rci.com, then go to "comment cards", you you went to a resort recently it will have it listed there and you can fill out a comment card online. The comment cards are used to determine if a resort gets a gold crown or other rating.

Glad you were able to track that down (and prove that I wasn't dreaming). We sometimes (always?) also get something in the mail to fill out after an RCI exchange visit, but it often comes so long after the week they are talking about that I know I am not always sure which resort they have in mind. Think they just say "your recent visit" or something. Not the resort name. We may have been to another one or two places since the one they mean! MD

I own at a few resorts and am generally happy with my ownerships, but do like to try new areas as often as possible. I will typically rely on RCI to do my exchanges but have purchased off the web on occasion. The thing that gets me is the Varied reviews you can read on the resorts. Red Week .com tends to have limited reviews mostly of which I would think are put in by the owners, who of course will make the resort sound great. Trip Advisor. Com tends to have many more reviews on each resort and they can Vary Wildly, from The greatest place on earth ,to this this is a dump all within the same week. I sometimes wonder if other Resorts send in some of these reviews to try and Poison there compitition. For the most part I think you have to try and take an avg. on all the reviews and hope your gut feeling is right.

Hi I agree with jayjay

Everyone travels differently and expectations are different. I am owner of 2 Timeshares and also coordinate and host group travel. Your going to love this my last trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico complaints from 3 different rooms. Here goes #1 I failed to mention that we would be walking on Cobble Stone Streets at some points of our vacation #2 A guest did not like the coffee anywhere in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and #3 I had to hold back a couple told me their room was to BRIGHT it was ocean view. I had resort place darkening drapes in room for them. 58 guests had a great time.

I have been doing a lot of searching on the RCI website this weekend to find an exchange for some local friends for a delayed honeymoon. The visible week I have on deposit has grown whiskers, so I'd rather give it to them for the exchange and guest fees than waste it totally. Anyhow, I've noticed that the reviews seem to be non-existent all of a sudden! I'm beginning to think RCI has cleared the boards and plans to start fresh. Most of their on line reviews have been years old for some time. The construction people complained about has been long since completed and the place may being showing "signs of wear" by now!

Incidentally, if anybody wants French Quarter,New Orleans, look Jan/Feb '08. MD

As the old saying goes, "you can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time" (re: such petty gripes above).

I recently saw a humorous "adaptation" of the (actual) saying on another timeshare site. I HOPE the variation was only offered in "tongue in cheek" humor. It went something like this:

"You can fool some of the people some of the time...... ......concentrate on those people".

Unfortunately, in the timeshare world, that is often just exactly how it goes, so it's not always funny....

September 2007 I just found that RCI has brought back current reviews! Hooray! See what the website says below. Joan -----------------

RCI has re-introduced Resort Reviews with some exciting enhancements. Resort reviews have been a leading subscribing member request as received in our feedback surveys.

These enhancements include: A member rating system appears in search results when viewing resorts via the online RCI Directory or checking availability. The rating is based on a 5 star system and will reflect member ratings of resort features such as: Overall Rating Activities Amenities Unit Satisfaction Service Family Friendliness Non-member visitors to RCI.com will be able to read reviews, but only RCI members will have access to write and submit Resort Reviews. For all reviews, a formal approval process takes place prior to publishing. Editors review the submission for appropriateness and quality based on an established checklist of standards which has been approved by RCI. Please note: The content within Resort Reviews is not edited or modified, but either approved or rejected in its entirety. Reviews will be archived at RCI's discretion (currently, after one-year). A few preconditions exist for writing and submitting a Resort Review: It requires up to 72 hours for a resort review to be published. During the first few weeks after launch (Aug 26 2007), we expect the delay to last up to one week. Thereafter, the normal 72 hour schedule will be observed. A member may only submit a single review for a given resort. If a member would like to submit a new review before the existing one is archived, the old review must first be removed. Reviews cannot be edited after they are submitted. Reviews may only be removed; once that is done, the member may submit a new review Resort Reviews from the decomissioned RCICommunity.com site will not be used to prepopulate the new Resort Review feature. Reviews from the old feature have been removed and archived. If you disagree with a member's review, use the feedback links provided to "vote-up" or "vote-down" the helpfulness of the review. Likewise, if a review appears to have significant flaws or inaccuracies, or it contains content inappropriate for the RCI membership, please use the link provided for this purpose (i.e., click "Report an inappropriate review").

We hope you find this new Resort Review feature to be a welcome enhancement to the member experience on RCI.com. http://www.rci.com/RCIW/RCIW_index?body=RCIW_KBResultExpanded&type=faq&id=1265

Does anybody know how to leave a review on RCI.com? I can't find a link anywhere. The last review for Grand Beach where we just stayed was in 2004. I think if rci.com made it easier to leave a review maybe more people would!

Also, how do you start a new forum topic? I can't find that on Redweek.

To the manager of these forum pages:

I thought this thread was supposed to include resort reviews. Have I read the title wrong? There do not seem to be many resort reviews in this four page long thread.

Hi Greg,

We have resort reviews on each resort page on RedWeek.com. This is a benefit of members of our website. Any reviews that are added in the forums aren't exactly organized and are added by forum participants. This particular topic was started by someone other than a RedWeek employee and appears to be more about timeshare reviews in general and not about specific resorts.

Thanks, Marty

Joan, this is great news. I had suggested to RCI to restart their own review system. They had a review system sometime ago but phased it out. I'm glad they're back. Reviews are very important.

As far as starting a new topic here on Redweek, scroll down to Subject and enter a new topic.

Has anyone ever been to "Clover Ridge" resort in Panora Iowa? We have never been there and would like to sell it but would like to know a first hand "users" comment to pass on.

We have been going there yearly since 2008. Great golf! The also have a Par 3 course that is awesome and very cheap. We bring our boat as well. Lake is perfect for tubing. The condos are recently updated. The town itself though is very small. But Des Moines is only 45 min. Away.

are updated. Ours faces the 5th fareway, can't beat the view. Also cool when there are golf tounements going on.
