Maui Fires - "open a booking discussion"?
I've been trying to reach Redweek through their email (support@redweek.com) and have sent 3 emails but no response. I'm responding to their 8/12 post. Is anyone having the same issue? Is there a phone number to call for Redweek? I got caught during my trip in the Lahaina fires and our hotel (Westin Kaanapali) lost power and eventually we were forced to evacuate. I believe I can recoup some of the costs. Let me know how best to reach Redweek Support.

I was able to cancel and get a full refund for Maui dates October 14-21 Sent a message through Redweek to the owner. They contacted redweek and authorized cancellation and refund. The next day redweek messaged me stating refund would be 7-10 days. I received it in 48 hours.

Redweek reservation #B12-9216-0588. Oct 13-20th 2023.
We have reservation through redweek Oct 13-20th. Marriott Maui Ocean Club. We have reached out to the seller and redweek both 62 days prior to departure date, following the devastating fires in Lahaina, Maui.
Redweek keeps referring us back to seller and the seller refers me back to redweek. The seller agreed to get back to us, 3 weeks have now passed not a word. This is unacceptable. Marriott needs to release reservations knowing the area of Kaanapali is greatly affected by this tragedy. The seller should release reservation for a full refund. This is bad business, unprofessional. Communication should be initiated by redweek in conjuction with resort, and logic should provail, " The act of nature clause" stating it will wait until departure date to accept or deny travel knowing the magnitude of devestation as well as government sending all tourists home and asking all resources be directed to the people of Maui has been made very clear. As of today the resort is still closed. This lack of response from redweek and seller is not acceptable. I travel with limitations and my disability and last minute isn't an option. Come on, Redweek, do the right thing set up a team to help facilitate travel to other parts of Hawaii and or move travel dates.

Regarding Hyatt Residence Club HRC Kaanapali. I just spoke with the corporate office. The HRC Kaanapali is closed thru Sept 14th and is not accepting new reservations from owners until after October 31st. It doesn't seem appropriate that any visitors should be held to bookings thru Oct 31st. I booked as a guest and I understand Redweek's legally bound by the owners agreement, however under these unprecedented circumstances the owners should let the guest cancel at least up thru the Governors date of business for West Maui of October 17th. We are scheduled to be there Sept 16th and no word from the owner. And yes I DID buy insurance. The fine print is they will only cover a natural disaster for 30 days from the disaster! Unbelievable!! I am at a loss for what to do. In the emails from the Hyatt they are clearly telling us not to come.

Hello Redweek,
We DID purchase travel insurance that Redweek recommended. The problem is the small print says it only covers a natural disaster for 30 days from the disaster (declared on Aug 10). Our reservation is for Sept 16.... so we are 6 days past the 30 days so it does Not cover our booking!! We highly expected booking thru a verified company and with back up insurance we would be safe. NOT the case. .......So unless the owner cancels the booking we are stuck! Either lose our money or go to an area where we are not wanted, (and its unimaginable to vacation there among the hurting community) ........Most of West Maui is closed and the government and people are asking visitors not to come to West Maui until October....... The Hyatt Residence Club has sent emails pleading with owners to cancel or change the reservations. I understand the Hyatt RC is closed thru Sept 14th and not accepting bookings from owners until after Oct. 31st. What do we do if our owner does not allow us to cancel? ......Please, Please Please help us! E. S.

We booked a week at the Hyatt Regency Club on Kanapaali Beach 9/2 - 9/9 never anticipating such a disaster could occur. We reached out to Redweek for options and were given the standard "force majeure" response.
