Hacienda del Mar Resort

Happy with Hacienda?

I attended a seminar regarding Identity theft, someone had a story about a similar situation in Italy. Be careful using laptops and make sure you get a credit report 2x this year because of this incident.

My wife and I purchased a number of years ago, and we are VERY dissatisfied that we did. After we purchased and when we stayed at the resort for the first time under the contract that we signed, we learned that we were lied to by the sales staff - multiple ways. Other things also happened, like what you said Sam. We felt so bad about our experience that we would NEVER stay there again.

The management there is very, very bad. I feel very bad for the current owners there because of their certain fate by owning there. I have read many stories posted on the Web about people who have also been lied to by Hacienda del Mar, even long time owners. These stories indicate to me that Hacienda del Mar is worse than most resorts in Mexico when it comes to caring for their owners.

I hope that Hacienda del Mar management is replaced to give the resort some hope...

I'm a widow & my husband & I were only able to spend one week there before he passed away. I have tried & tried to sell it as I feel HdM has a lot of issues, but right now, all I want to do is sell it w/o having to spend any large sums of money, which is the only way most people are willing to sell it! I even tried to give it away if someone would have paid the 2013 maint. fees (which have doubled since we bought it) but no one would take me up on it. I'm living on widows Soc Sec & I just can't afford to pay these fees each year. I always thought if u didn't pay your maint fees, that they would just take it back...no, I guess not. It's a gorgeous place &if I was married, I'd go there & enjoy it!

I 'split' my week at HDM every year when I deposit it into RCI. I simply tell them to put it into the RCI system and split the week into 2 weeks. I have been doing this for at least 4 years. We have never been back to HDM since we bought it, and yes, suffer from buyers' remorse. It's a beautiful place, but the annual fee is crushing! We spend about as much in maintenance fees each year as 2 weeks rental in another resort would cost, so I guess we are even, but somehow I do feel we got 'drugged' as the other poster indicated!

I am with you, have been trying to sell my units (2 executive) with no success. They now have taken away our rights to maybe getting a ocean front unit, I would have to pay X$ to have the privalege of an ocean front unit. You never know from yr to yr what they will change next. Also if you do not book one year to the day for your reservations you can't get them. I can't make myself go back there because they have really renigged on me on everything, from golf to excellerating to reservations.

Don't believe anything they tell you dear. How can you get rooms there through RCI when us owners can't get rooms unless you book one year to the day in advance. I
