Vida Vacations & Grand Mayan lies

Nov 20, 2018

I also have our Spa 3 bedroom tower unit advertised on VRBO & Home Away, would you like to see the listing? I am not a scammer, please stop saying that. I am a very upset Vida owner.

Also, I'm not even the one who originally posted about the attorney call. I just responded to the other person who posted that.

Stop the BS . You posted the attorney info . You're job is to continue posting the contact info. That's how the SCAM works . You are probably also the same person posting the original message using different screen names .

What a crazy thread! Apparently we are two different Laura Bs. I thought someone hijacked my name and thread, but if you take a minute you can see two completely different posts. I NEVER asked anyone for anything except, wanting to know if anyone else was contacted about a class action suit lawyer. Just trying to find out if it was ligit 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am going to try to change my posting name to separate myself from the other Laura B.

Hi Laura B... I am the other Laura, and have changed my name to Lori B.

It’s taking me a little while to figure out and untangle our messages. The lawyer that contacted me was trying to create a class action suit against Vindanta for leaking personal information. It’s been a hectic week, and I haven’t really decided if I want to take a chance and respond. I will keep you posted.

Dear readers,

I am one of the many victims of the Vidanta timeshare selling. If you people would like to do something about this, then follow my example and write to the partners of Vidanta and to the press. Complaining at Vidanta will not help much, but some partners of Vidanta, such as the Cirque du Soleil, can't afford to get a bad coverage and might be persuaded to break their relation with Vidanta, if they get a lot of complaints and/or negative press coverage regarding their relation with Vidanta. I've just send the following e-mail to Cirque du Soleil. I you people follow my example, we might be able to change something:

Dear Cirque du Soleil,

I'm writing you because you are a close partner of the Mexican grupo Vidanta. Your theater at the Riviera Maya is connected to the hotels of Vidanta. Is Cirque du Soleil aware of the dubious reputation of the grupo Vidanta? They have a rather bad name as regard to their time share selling. They use very aggressive and dubious sales techniques to sell their visitors highly overpriced memberships. On the internet you can find many stories on their embezzlements. On the timeshare exchange site Redweek for instance Vidanta is one of the timeshare companies that is mentioned the most as an untrustworthy timeshare company (https://www.redweek.com/forums/messages?thread_id=18037;page=25;query=). On consumers affairs sites you also find numerous complaints about Vidanta (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/vida-vacations.html or https://www.timesharescam.com/blog/200-vidanta-timeshare/) Also on Tripadvisor you can find many warnings about the timeshare selling of Vidanta (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g1575477-i14532-k9881718-Vidanta_resorts_is_a_scam_Do_not_buy_a_timeshare-Jalisco.html)

On the site of Cique du Soleil you can find, at https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/citizenship/procurementpartnerships the following words about its partnerships:

Cirque du Soleil has a social responsibility clause in its partnership agreements. This clause covers a set of social responsibility parameters, such as employee relations and working conditions, responsible procurement, environmental protection and social and cultural action in the community.

Now the big question is: how does Cirque du Soleil rhyme its high ethical standards with the dubious reputation of its close partner Grupo Vidanta?

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Tomas Raming

Hi Lori B, It did get very confusing & I have no idea where this "Don P" got that you or I are scammers. I have been posting to this site for over a year because I was so upset with how we have been lied to by Vidanta sales people. We have given them so much money & kept falling for their "upgrades" to "fix" our previous contracts because they couldn't believe what we were sold in the past. Yeah right. I am hoping that someone finds a way to sue these crooks. Keep me posted if you get any where with this & I of course will do the same!

Dr. Raming,

I will follow your lead. Do you know of any other ways to try to get them bad press? One of the problems is that Vidanta is such a big employer in Mexico and the resort itself is lovely and well staffed for the most part. It is only the sales people and their out right lying that damages their reputation. It appears that a number of us where originally approached at Walmart. Wonder if there is anything we could do there? Keep me posted if you have any other ways that we can try to get some recourse. Thank-you

I’m concerned because I really need to cancel the contract I signed on 12/18 but I’m not able to figure out a way how. I plan to call them tomorrow but I don’t have much faith in getting it resolved. I’m so mad at myself for paying for basically ‘access’ to a resort booking system. Looked at a bunch of other hotels available and I wouldn’t stay there if someone paid me. Ugh. And my contract doesn’t have much of the promises made but of course, I still signed because I was there for SIX HOURS and was sick with bronchitis on top of it all. Anyone with any ideas? Help!

In Mexico you have 5 business days to cancel a deeded or right to use timeshare. If you bought a non timeshare type vacation club, I am not sure if the rescission rights apply but if it does apply then it would also be 5 business days. Calling whether during the rescission period or after won't help at all. If you are still within the rescission window you need to cancel in writing. You can contact Profecto (something like the mexican consumer protection agency), you can open a complaint and send them copies of the contract to see if they violated laws -like not including the rescission info in the contract if applicable and they may be able to help.

be careful about anyone who says they can help but want a large upfront fee in order to facilitate the help. They may pop up take your money and then disappear.

Thank you Tracey! I plan to call them tomorrow. There is no cancellation clause in any of my documents. After searching online I saw the 5 business day statement. I’m willing to try anything. Just super upset I did this to begin with.

Did you pay on credit card? Cancel the charge with your credit card company & email the resort so that you have a record of telling them you are cancelling.

Is it even legal to do that Laura B? Don’t think it is.

There was another person several months ago who did that & their credit card company refunded their money. At least it gives you time to dispute the charge with Vidanta. Since Vidanta makes fradulent promises, I think it is completely legal. I wish that we had done so when we bought in.

Did you buy into Grand Mayan, Grand Luxxe? You can email customer service & they will respond. Do not even bother trying to reach the sales office because they don't get back to you. Just make sure that you get a written record of trying to reach them. I would email the sales office & copy customer service as your credit card company will want to see that you tried to reach them.

Good Luck!

Thanks again! I’ll be calling the credit card company today. I emailed the sales office and got. I response, of course. Really wanted to try to handle this professionally, but it doesnt look like they care to do the same so I guess I shouldn’t care. Happy New Year!

Got a voicemail from customer service yesterday who also said he’d send an email but I’ve gotten no email so far. Called the credit card company today who is putting a dispute on the charges and sending me the paperwork to get the ball rolling on the issue. Didn’t want to wait another day for that as I know time is of the essence with this. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for your advice.

Hopefully you sent letters and aren't relying on emails and phone calls. Emails and phone calls are not valid means of rescission. Regardless of when you call or email Vida is under no obligation to respond.

It seems that a lot of us (too many) have been deceived into signing up with Vida Vacations. To this end I've started a website specifically to bring us all together. I posted my first blog today and will post a new topic each and every week. I am hoping others will join me there in sharing their experiences, and make a plan for tackling this together (class-action lawsuit; negative social media campaign; boycott of Vidanta; letter campaign to Cirque du Soleil) as well as warning would-be-buyers to run for the hills!

You can check it out at:

New scam alert, I signed up for a Vida timeshare and rescinded within 24 hours. Few days ago I got a call from an Oklahoma # saying they had people limed up to use my week and that he could help me deposit it to a selling queue. I told him I am not an owner there and that I in fsct rescinded, and he still shows me as an owner on whatever paperwork he has. I told him that's wrong again, and he started asking me what about the $ I lost to purchase. Advised I was refunded fully. Told him he can do whatever he wants with the info he sees on his paperwork because it wasn't correct. His was response was "That's what's up, ok thank you, have a good day"

I'm not too worried because I fully rescinded in person and have receipts bht just know somehow random ppl are getting Vidanta information
