Can't even give them one star
Yes I most certainly would be interested in getting onboard for a class action! I have been assigned a court date August 22 in Henrico General District Court. Club Land'Or filed a civil suit against me! Congrats on passing the bar. I contacted a Virginia lawyer but I did not get the impression he thought I would win so I guess I am on my own. I stopped paying in 2008. Enough is enough! My daughter went to Nassau a month ago and took pictures. The place is the same as 1987!!!

I stay on this site just to read all the comments, but so far we are all in the same boat. These people didn't write their contract in a last minute thought, they knew what they were doing. The people who are paying out money for lawyers, good luck, your not getting out of this deal. We stop paying for about two months, they called our family members (out of state) and told them what they wanted, how embarrassing. So we just paid the dues and hope one day this nightmare will be over with. I wish everyone good luck, but save your money on the lawyer, a contract is a contract.... we are all stuck!! Oh yes I did get my new maint. bill, this makes me sick to my stomach every time I pay these people. My husband said he can't wait to go back, he's going to wipe his ass with their towels.... lol

Would love to be able to fight the Land'Or group - seems like a lot of people would love a civil action suit - we just need someone with expertise to represent all of us.
Could we request financial records of the company or something to prove mismanagement of funds? Could the state's attorney general do an audit on the company?
Lots of dissatisfied people but no one with expertise. I contacted a lawyer that deals with suits against Land'Or but he said it would be several months before he took on any more cases.
I'll keep watching for any new developments in fighting this company.

I would like to know the name of your attorney or any attorney in Virginia, who deals with Club Land'or suits. As I have said before, I have a court date in Henrico County District Court, August 22, 2011, civil suit. I cannot make that court date, as I live in the midwest. I am very worried and would like some guidance ASAP. Time is running out!

Go back and read the previous 16 pages of postings and it will give you a lot of information. However, if you cannot make a court date, I would do 2 things: First I would contact John Rogers(I think that is right - it's been a while) and play "Let's make a deal" to try and get out of your contract for a lesser sum. It will work best if there is a hardship like a divorce, loss of job, or some reason there is no money to pay. I don't know how much you owe, but I got out for $1200 that I offered them(the board of directors) via email. Second, if that doesn't work, you need to contact the court and try to get it postponed, or ask what your alternatives are, until you can appear. If you just don't appear, they will probably be awarded a default judgement against you and then they can take any means necessary to get their money(garnish wages, lien on your property, etc.). I don't know if a default judgement let's you out of the contract though. Believe me, the Henrico courts and the Virginia Beach courts are used to Land 'Or suits. There have been hundreds of them. Maybe a picket outside their offices, like a flash mob, could be arranged.(Just thinking out loud). While I got out of my contract I've still tried to help others because I think we were all taken advantage of.

What year did you make the deal with Club Land'or for $1200? Would you contact me, PLEASE!!!?? christinelolsen@hotmail.com I am so stresses out about the civil suit. I live in MN and my daughter gets married the week of the case. I am sending a letter to the Judge to ask for a continuance, but I am told I will not know if he grants it until the day of the court, and I cannot be there! I would by all means pay something to get out of the remailing 15 years on my 40 year Bahama contract. I just need to know who and how to contact that person at Land'or, and make sure it is legal and binding. Christine

I had 29 years left on my lease, but the Timeshare was paid in full. After numerous call and failure to pay the increased fee and the never ending special special assessments, Land'or contacted me and offered me the chance to buy out of my contract for $3,000. I owed them $1,500 at that point. So I sent them the money, they sent me a letter releasing me of my obligations, plus they gave deposit three weeks into RCI for me.
For all you remaining owners, I feel your pain and can only Imagine what kind of special hurricane assessment they are going to hit you up for after Hurrican Irene blows through. With any luck, it will level the place, releasing you all from the Land'or money pit.

Just returned from Land'or - dingy and dumpy as ever. They tried to sell us a Point System. We told the woman that we did not trust any ideas the owners come up with. Talked with many unhappy people who have been duped, just as we were. Yesterday we got a letter with a "confidential" buy out. For a mere $9,xxx.xx we could be released from the contract - we own outright and this number, we figure is maintenance for the 9 weeks we have remaining on our contract. We also have 5 comp weeks - I think I will retire and just stay there a month or so. Anyone wlse get a letter like this (unsolicited).

We paid $8500 up front in 1986 with a stupid 40 year contract. How dumb could two people be?????!!!!Just returned from Land'or - dingy and dumpy as ever. They tried to sell us a Point System. We don't have that kind of money! I paid my next two maint fees in full and it was hard to let the money go. Then today I received a bill for $493.00 for Energy Surcharge/Staff wages which they said I've paid in the past. I don't recall paying this charge and can't come up with it in a few weeks like they ask! They are draining us! I wouldn't know what to offer them if i DID have the money for the buyout! I'm getting more depressed as we deal with these hucksters.
I got a continuance for a trial for Nov 14. I must go since I asked for it. This travel in itself would cost me a chunk of money, but hopefully will work to some degree in my favor. Please e-mail at christinelolsen@hotmail.com and we can go from there.

I successfully got out of paying "special assessments" when thay sent the bill for the second one. If any of you saved the questionnaire that they used to require you to fill out about the contract you just signed, it defines "special assessments" as special assessments imposed by the Bahamian government. I have a copy of that questionnaire that I filled out if you would like a copy.
