timeshare rental experiences

There's no way to tell via the internet honest owners from dishonest owners. I would recommend talking to owners via telephone .... that way you can pretty much guage their honesty .... and LAST BUT NOT LEAST always have a rental contract signed by both the owner and the renter (you) stipulating the facts of the agreement .... you can 'search forums' for a sample rental agreement.

I have a Marriott time share in Barony Hilton Head. I would like to rent it thru redweek. what are the ins an outs. Does Marriott need to approve it? are they co-operative. who draws up the rental agreement. Is it a three party agreement. (me, the renter and Marriott)?
any feedback would be helpful.

Unless this is exchange of some sort and you actually own the week you can rent it to whomever you want to. I would suggest a rental agreement be in place. You can 'search forums' for sample rental agreements.

We just bought a timeshare with another couple. They want to charge guests that come along with us but my husband are on the fence. We have never owned a timeshare before and they have. Does anyone of any options on how to handle this so that everyone is happy?

My best suggestion to keep the peace would be for you and this couple to use and pay for alternate years. So they pay for and use the week the first year. Then you pay for and use the week the next year, then keep alternating.
Then, they can charge whomever they want when they have the week and you can charge (or not charge) whomever you want the following year/week.

I interpreted it to mean the other couple wanted to charge guests that go along with the 4 of them on their timeshare vacation. If I'm wrong, then please correct me.
People have different thoughts on this issue AND and depends on many thing including the guests you bring along. Are they generous or stingy, do they normally pay their way when you all go out together, how close are the 4 owners to the guests, are the guests related to either of the 4 owners .... too little info is being given concerning the guests.
Most people are courteous enough to help buy groceries or to take the owners out to nice dinner a couple times while on vacation if the owners refused monetary funds.
