If the resort is affiliated with only one of the two, then you simply do NOT have the option to exchange with the other. However, aside from these "big two" (and regardless of the affiliation of your resort with one or the other or both of them) you can still choose to exchange through RedWeek, Dial an Exchange and possibly a few others, depending on what you own. Outfits like Trading Places International and/or San Francisco Exchange (more often referred to simply as "SFX") are pretty selective about resorts.
