9-11 Memorial, New York City. Submitted by N. Perkins, Maryland.
Waterfalls cascade down all four sides of each pool that is created by the two “footprints” of the twin towers. The names of nearly 3000 victims of the terrorist attacks are inscribed in bronze plaques that line the two pools.
“Made sacred through tragic loss,” the Memorial is a place of remembrance and quiet reflection.
Although visitor passes are required, admission is free.
