Fall is a great time to plan a timeshare vacation to San Diego – the weather is just about perfect, the ocean is still warm enough to enjoy, and the crowds are gone.
Most people think of San Diego as the world-famous San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld (the first ever built), and the fascinating San Diego Harbor with all of its U.S. Naval shipping and private boating activity. However, there is quite possibly an entire San Diego you might not even know about. It’s called San Diego North.
Head to the northern part of San Diego County for a wonderful timeshare getaway for the entire family. 1. San Diego Wild Animal Park (also known as the San Diego Zoo Safari Park). At this exciting 1800-acre animal preserve you see herds of exotic animals as they would be in their native habitats.
2. Torrey Pines State Reserve. From hiking and biking trails to the Torrey Pines Glider Port where you can take off for a hang glider adventure soaring out over the cliffs and beach (see top photo), this is one “wild” area you won’t want to miss.
3. Wineries. San Diego’s north county offers several award-winning wineries. A popular one is the Bernardo Winery, one of the oldest continuously operating wineries in the whole of California. You’ll enjoy visiting the tasting room, unique shops, and upscale café, all housed in several of the winery’s original buildings.
4. Bates Nut Farm. From September 28 – October 31 this family favorite is all about orange. The Pumpkin Patch is ready for your little ones to choose the biggest pumpkin they can find, and have fun with tractor rides, a straw maze, and even a petting zoo.
5. Julian. Another spot for an Autumn visit is this 1800s gold mining town in the mountains above San Diego. Julian’s Apple Days are celebrated through the Fall. Enjoy apple pies, fresh apple cider, and even apple wine as you stroll along the wooden sidewalks, rest in front of the historic Julian Hotel, and even tour old gold mines.
6. Beaches. Seventeen beaches make up the 36 miles of coastline of San Diego’s north county. From soft sand to hidden coves and jagged cliffs, these beaches offer all sorts of ways to enjoy sunny San Diego’s Pacific Ocean coast.
