There is simply no other region in the world that loves flowers like Thailand does. Much of the culture is actually based around the flowers of Thailand. You can see evidence of this passion for flowers almost everywhere that you look in the country. Let’s take a little look at the different flowers seen in Thailand culture.
One of the most evident can be found on the side of the major airline ‘Thai Airways’ which boasts an orchid (see top photo) as its symbol. This really does help show the connection between flowers and Thai culture, and it is a message that has been spread throughout the world.
Flowers are also common at weddings throughout Thailand. In fact, there are a number of aspects to weddings that dictate what sort of flowers should be used. For example you shouldn’t use white flowers at a wedding because it symbolise bad luck, therefore you have committed a pretty big mistake if you stop by a wedding with one of these in hand.
In addition to the plethora of flowers seen in Thailand in the wild, there are many others that are on public display created by the loving hands of people in Bangkok. In fact, they absolutely love to share their passion for flowers in Thailand and throughout the country you will find many beautiful festivals and celebrations that are run in honour of the beautiful flowers of the country, such as the Rama IX Park Flower Festival (see photo above).
It is worth visiting a couple of these if you really want to get a genuine feel of Thailand culture. You will be surprised at just how much knowledge the people are willing to part with on Thailand Wild Flowers, as well as the ones that are held more ‘captive’.
If you really want to get a true feel for the popularity of flowers in Thailand then you should check out Pak Khlong Tat Market in Bangkok (see photo right). It is the primary flower market in the city and it is packed full of some of the best Thailand florists. It really is a major tourist attraction in the city and is well worth a visit if you are in the area, especially since it is open for 24 hours a day.
As you can probably guess, there are plenty of florists that will be able to provide you with the flowers that you want to decorate your home or simply to give as a gift. Owing to the fact that flowers are incredibly popular, they are often fairly cheap as well.
There are many budget-friendly timeshare rentals in Thailand. For example, currently you can stay at Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club on beautiful Phuket Island for just $70/night. Also check out the great timeshare exchanges available in Thailand.
